Chair of Bible Studies

The Chair of Bible Studies trains post-graduate students, doctoral candidates and students for disciplines linked with the study and understanding of the Bible. These disciplines include History of the Middle East of the Biblical Period, Biblical Isagogics, Textology of the Old and New Testaments, Biblical Exegetics and Hermeneutics, Study of Intertestamental Literature and the Septuagint and History of Biblical Interpretation in Christian Tradition.

Both the staff and out-of-staff members of the Chair provide academic guidance and advice in writing Master’s, Candidate’s and Doctoral theses.

A special place in the Chair’s academic life is given to the translation and commentation of Biblical books. The Chair holds special seminar and conducts special courses on these issues and invite professors, post-graduate students and doctoral candidates from other chairs to participate in them.

The Chair is headed by M. G. Seleznev, Candidate of Philological Sciences.
